If you don't know what PD Central was and is, you will not get much out of these stories.
Perfect Dark Central, originally here, moved here and now mostly here is a message board I first began posting at in September 2000. At the time I was a massive Perfect Dark fanboy and had just gained internet access for the first time, and this was the first online community I ever took part in. I was about 16 at this point.
Anyway, one day I made a roleplaying kind of thread. I posted about having placed a bomb underneath the forum, and took the role of a villain. Everybody else had an entertaining time roleplaying their way through eventually capturing and defeating me. It was a great deal of fun, but its spontaneity is what made it popular. I attempted to start several follow-up stories, but these petered out because not everybody else was interested anymore. All of these stories are unfortunately lost in the mists of time.
However. I was enjoying the writing experience and I wanted to keep writing. So I decided to try to construct something more structured. For this, I would ask the forumites what characters they would like to be. Then, I would write a story about those characters.
Sounds like a recipe for disaster, right?
